SEPTEMBER 28 1948. Fine day. I made entries for all women's exhibits for Harvest Festival. Lorraine Storms my good sec. Jean [lastname], new Grant Co. HDA judged all PM. In eve, Hans and I stood in crowd outside to hear amateur show. 1949. Set time back 30". Cold and rougher. Hans was sick again, missed supper. Sea very rough in eve. Colder. Read "Haleyone" by Elinor Glyn, another British novel. Did a little needlepoint 1950. Frank here overnight and for breakfast; he began mixing plaster for Mr. Rice this week. Hans missed bus to Baraboo so we drove to Sank City - fast - to bus. I drove home by 7:30. Ironed 9 shirts, etc. Short nap. To Trousdale to So. Dist. WSCS. Miss Rank spoke on Malaya. Took Mrs. S [wa?] home. Home via Belt Line 1951. After taking Hans to work as usual at 7, I got tomatoes, carrots and squash at garden. Canned 9 1/2 qt. tomatoes (cold pack). Mother S sewed on Trip Around World quilt and overcast a pillowcase. I finished pr. pillowcases- with [ricnoc?]. Took $575 Guild check to Wm Rabe. 88 degrees 1952 Awake 4-6, slept till 8. Took Mrs. [lastname] to church. Her 80th birthday. Took some of her glods to Lois Johnson. Bill Parker here for dinner and supper. Sig and Marian swept floors and cleaned windows. Shut off furnace. Wore no wrap.
