NOVEMBER 28 1948. Hans got home nearly midnight. Awake from 2 to 5 then up at 8:40! Late to church. Several had heard my broadcast. I planted Lucy's crocus. Hans filled holes in cement steps. We drove to Muscoda south of the Wis. R. 1949. I washed and ironed some but day was not nice. Hans and Mr. Vold brought home freezer from Muscoda. I spent hr. defrosting it. Hilda went to Marie's for supper and over night. 1950 Ironed, made more than a dozen phone calls for bazaar, finished apron and dress, cut out 12 yr. old dress, smock and apron of paisley, sewed. K and I alone till supper time when Frank came by bus from Ames. 1951 Bob Crawford brought Hans home from work about 8:30. Much pain. Dr. Allen came. Hans in bed all day. Dr. Weston came about 6. I finished red apron. Downtown twice. Made all of plaid print apron with ricrac. -5 degrees 1952. Up at 7. Left Dora's after 8. At Conors garage. Ames (Bourne's) 1/2 hr. to thaw car windows. Drove via Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Montfort, home by 4! Sunny all day, much less snow in E. Iowa and less in Wis. Roads dry after near Ames. Got Branch circulars and labeled them. Frank came home 11, from Sank Co.
