December 23

DECEMBER 23
1948. Vacuumed rugs, washed my bedroom curtains, etc. + ironed them. Baked 3 fruit cakes.
-8[degrees] 1949. Scrubbed stairs + waxed them. Grandma helped me make Tutti-frutti turnovers, pinwheels + other cookies. Took nap then put up tree; she helped decorate it. Had to set it on floor. Got 14 cards, making 102! our record.
1950. Hans in at 1 AM from Eau Claire on bus. I lay awak 1-4 with indigestion. Have inflammation below knee which Aunt Minnie Vold says may be phlebitis. Frank came from Rockford at noon. Helped set up tree, on coffee table. I decorated it alone. To Sig's for supper. Hilda there.
-3[degrees] 1951 Frank came from Rockford in night. I couldn't sleep till 1 or later. Audrey Cornwell + I had charge of nursery - only 4 children 2 Moffitt boys + 2 Keller girls. Sig came out so all 5 here for venison dinner. Frank went home with D.K. K + I to church program - very good. She operated lights for pageant.
1952. Wrapped pkgs + baked nut bread. was at office an hr, + downtown. Put up cards - more than 100. In eve Frank + I took Liberian stuff back to Hofstad's. Henderson's there. Ate slice fruit cake.
