1948. Hans stayed in bed with flu. Helen, K, + I, also Owen + Kae at lunch at Sig's. Took Helen to 2:15 train in to Chicago. Awful crowd so couldn't park on square so came home. 1949. Grandma + I finished washing before 10. Wrote 3 letters, walked to PO twice, slept 9 hrs. began doing a big piece needlepoint in gray yarn for Hilda. Towels hung outside dried in the bit of sun. Dale K. here in eve, Frank a few minutes at noon. -21º 1950 Slept 9 hours + feel better. Medicine makes about 2 naps a day necessary. We ironed, mended. Took Abingdon Commentary in eve for Mr. Kromrey, chatted with Edith. 1951 Awake mostly after 4:30. Ironed. K. got dinner, to hosp. diet kitchen in P.M as usual. Bought elec. clock for Juanita Bell's wedding - at Kalvestran's new house. Hans + I called on Mrs. May Lehman to translate Mrs. Iben's letter. 7º 1952. Coldest yet. Finished typing labels + readied circulars, nearly 2 hrs. in AM. K made It. spaghetti dinner. Worked 1 to nearly 5 at Branch - began posting from processing book. Signe here for dinner. Ironed after supper. Still Christmas cards, 136 so far.
