January 11 1917. We knotted my crazy comfort. Leslie took me to the 3:10. I visited George, taking him a narcissus from the Epworth League. Took a film to Townsend's for developing. I came home on the 9:10, and stayed at Howard Miller's all night. 1918. Washed Hans' duds and a few other things. Did a little mending, and picked up my Red Cross knitting again. Mrs. Cogswell was here in P.M. It seems a little odd to have Constance helping me, but she is good help and company, too. Got Christmas check for $5 from folks. Papa had sent it to B-Ia. 1919. Up late, walked down to have prescription filled in A.M. Cleaned up house a bit. Sewed on dress a little, crocheted two medallions, hemmed first two diapers. Hans' fever practically gone. My arm is somewhat sore, but didn't feel other effects much. 1920. Wrote to Hans. Went to church with George and Leslie. Services were in the church basement, as boiler had sprung a leak. A fine mild day, thawing in P.M. 1921. Colder weather, somewhat. Washed Hilda's woolens; set up woolen comfort (that Mamma pieced for me last winter) in frames, and knotted a quarter of it. Letter from Helena, and card from Mabel Crossley. Baked bread and bread-sponge cake.
