JANUARY 21 1917. Snowy, then rain, sleet, and fog. Stayed home all day; wrote eight letters, and a "poem" for the South Prairie Institute, modeled after "When the Frost is on the Punkin'." 1918. Typed a "Gardenia Greene" garden story and sent it and buttermilk story to S.F. Took yarn to Hansell's I got for Red Cross in Bemidgi. Got letter from Edna Clark. Made my dark cretonne knitting bag, to be used also for travelling bag. Crocheted on pillowcase. Madeline here in eve. 1919. Baked two loaves graham bread and a dried apple-raisin-vegetable orange pie - pretty good combination. Sewed on waist; getting it done enough to wear when we went to Red Cross hospital in evening to see Martin Swedling & wife, who have "flu." Started crocheting edging for longcloth Gertrude. Letter from Alma R. and from Hazel S. 1920 -1°. Washed up a lot of glass & china, cleaned bathroom, sewed on Hans' shirt. Hilda was feverish and fretful again in P.M. Letter from Amanda, who is sick ever since she got back to Vermilion after New Year's. 1921. Up to 50° and some muddy. Cleaned up my bedroom, finally finished the mending. Started making pods, doing 2 dozen. Finished crocheting pink and white bootie I started last year. Letter from Myrtle Nelson.
