JANUARY 24 1917. As Supt. of the women's dept. at the Institute, I took in 105 entries before noon. After dinner, (served by Klotz'), I gave my "poem" and heard part of the program. J.W. Merrill here for supper. G.M. lambert, I.S.C '09 was one of the speakers. 1918. Had headache all night and until evening. Letter from Mary Nelson. Constance went to Bemidgi for eye treatment. I went to Red Cross, but couldn't sew. Wound 3 balls yarn, learning "bomb" method. Took nap then felt better. Constance taught me to play "Rummy" in evening. 1919. Ironed, baked white bread, boiled my silver. Finished smock and made most of striped skirt for it. Hans was at Westreville Institute in P.M. and eve. I walked to town for third flu inoculation. Margaret's father came for her, it was such a fine bright day. 1920. Clear and cold. Hans helped on the new barn all P.M. We worked on our account books, at finishing up the 1919 one. Letter from Amanda, and card & dress for Hilda from Constance. Hilda only weighs 22-1/2 lbs. 1921. Repainted Hilda's buggy, doing the work on the back porch in the morning. Washed some for Hilda. Made a bunch of soft towels & clothes, began fixing new gray corduroy upholstering for the baby buggy. Finished pair of bootees. Adela here over night.
