JANUARY 27 1917. Mopped, made oatmeal cookies, suet pudding, etc. Wrote two "stories" in P.M. 1918. -27° at 9 o'clock. Bachelor said it was -40°, and I believe it. Constance and I went on skits to lake in P.M. - my first experience. I wrote to Edith B. and Anna W., Hans, and card to Flo. Amanda and Helena Mahlon here in eve. Played whist. 1919. Continued warm and sunny. I cut out three white flannel "Gertrude" petticoats and made one, also 3 flannel pinning-bands. Mrs. Peterson here in P.M. I crocheted on edging, finishing enough for small skirt. Walked to town in P.M. also took walk in forenoon. Read in "Jane Eyre" Mrs. P. brought me. 1920. Didn't get up till nine, but got dinner for six, hung out washing; in P.M. I cut out a lot of blue and checked outing pieces for a quilt for Hilda. Made most of the buttonholes in Hans' shirt. Letter from Helena. 1921. Busy from 5:30 till past 8, except for an hour's rest in P.M. We sent our young geese to Chicago with Fuglsang's. I cut up lard and sausage meat till after 1, when Hans came home from hauling hogs for Lafe Scott's. Hans' mother & father helped from 2 o'clock on, she staying all night. They cut up meat, made sausage, etc.
