FEBRUARY 2 1917. Coldest yet, -20°. I got the mail in the afternoon, waiting at Ford's till it came. The two Mrs. Ford's were thrown from their buggy yesterday. Took pictures, and printed again at night. Leslie and papa came home. 1918. Warmest day of the week. Constance helped me with a 2-1/2 wks. washing - and ironed some. I baked spice cake. Crocheted in P.M. while Adeline Davids and Borghild (Oversea) were here. Letters from Hans and Florence. Cogswell's here for one game of "500." She and I won, of course. 1919. Foggy and rainy Sunday. I planted a box of onions. Hans and I walked to town in P.M. We played "Rummy," then when Margaret came, she played with us. Wrote to mamma. We ate the last of the peanuts we raised. 1920. Cloudy and warm. Groundhog couldn't see his shadow. Hilda waked me up for the day at 4:30, and was not very good all day. I finished her quilt, cut out two B.V.D.'s for Hans, and peeled apples for six quarts to can. Letters from Olga and Cousin Frank. 1921. Still some after pains. Another letter from mamma. Mrs. Bolt is doing the housework and taking care of us all. Wrote to Helena & Florence. Adela stayed all night here, & did milking & other chores before Hans got home from town.
