FEBRUARY 4 1917. A fierce storm, wind and cold and dust and snow, leaving everything dirty, indoors and out. Worked on my memory book. 1918. Very cold, but sun warmed it up. Ironed a little, mended, wrote stories to go with 3 of our pictures-(our furniture, raking leaves at Elmenhurst, and caves near Maquoketa)-and mailed them, also birthday card to Bess Eder. 1919. Sunny and snow thawing. I baked bread and rolls and did my last canning of 1918 stuff, 3 pts. citron, using last citron. Made small pillowcase, and crocheted on some lace Maud started, for another. August here a while in P.M. Walked to town, got cream thread and began crocheting on flannel petticoat. We think we will not stay here another year. 1920. Finished undersuit, washed for Hilda, washed my hair, cut and sewed rug rags and began crocheting green and white cotton rug with hook papa made me. Letter from Hans. Wrote to him and to Constance. Hilda weighs practically 23# at 10 months. 1921. Sent out announcements to Helen, Herman, George, great-grandma, Cousin Emma, Reno, Hazel S, Hazel G., Edith B, Martha & Mary and Cogswell's. Signe had a little colic - because I ate four green gage plums. Card from Sis. I sat up for first in rocker, and crocheted a little on pink nightingale.
