FEBRUARY 6 1917. Made myself a blue velvet Tam (from one of mamma's hats). made a red-and-gold brocade bag, and began crocheting a red-and-gray woolen rug. Got the mail. 1918. Quite mild. 7° above at 3:00 P.M. but seemed warmer. Baked 4 loaves of oatmeal bread, rolls, and oatmeal cookies, a box of which I sent Hans. Wrote to him and to Paul and Millie. Made 2 qt. preserves of canned green tomato pulp. Put blue silk pockets on my suit skirt. Letter from Mrs. Leffler. 1919. Did a good share of ironing and mending, baked applesauce cake. August dropped in for dinner. I walked to Tjaden's in P.M. Appliqued a tulip on bedspread in eve. Hans in Pleasant Valley [illegible] all P.M. and till late. 1920. Did all the housework again, baked cornbread, etc. Made Hans a nightshirt. Letter from Partha McColley, now at Puyallup, Wash. 1921. A quiet Sunday inside - rather stormy and snowing a little outside. I sat up more than an hour. Signe continues good. Hilda had crying spell in night - her first since Signe came. Think it's her teeth.
