FEBRUARY 7 1917. Mamma went to Iowa City in the afternoon. I took her to the train. In the evening, when Leslie met her on the 9:00 P.M. train, I went with him and stayed all night at Miller's. 1918. Up to 10°, but quite windy and snowy in P.M. Washed my hair in morning. In the hour and half it was drying, I finished hairpin lace for 2" pillowcase and knit. Finished mine and another hospital shirt at Red Cross, and put my name in pocket. Letters from Hans and August (at McGregor). Wrote to August. 1919. Finished ironing and mending, pressed Hans' new suit, mopped. Hans gone all day and evening to Meckling Institute. Laura Jones came back with him and stayed here over night. to stay week or so, her eyes trouble so. Margaret went home on evening train. Mrs. Peter Miller here in P.M. I crocheted, basket pattern on flannel "Gertrude." Appliqued another tulip in an hr. in eve. 1920. Mamma better, and able to help a little. I baked six loaves of bread, mopped, and worked on my rug. Did a little darning, starting crocheting edge on crossbar h'dk'f. 1921. Sat up most of day except for nap in P.M. Crocheted on Signe's pink nightingale, wrote to Anna Wilson and announcements to Jo and Bert. Got circle letter. Hazel & Rosie & Adela in a while. Oscar began staying here to help with chores.
