FEBRUARY 9 1917. Cold. Left Ankeny on 8 o'clock car to Ames. Got off at Ridge Ave. Went to Tucker's, then H.E.C. Bldg. Lunch at Selwyn Club with Anna W. Called on Martha Eder in hospital, and on Mrs. Leffler. Gave "Alexander Abraham" at [Quill?]. Stayed all night at "Practice House." 1918. Warm 25° above at 5:00 P.M. Up at 8. We cleaned up the downstairs. I shrunk 8 yds. of gingham. Baked 2 mince pies -- 1 for bachelor. Letter from Hans. Constance and I went to lake with Mervin Hanson's sled. Snow too deep for coasting. We rode back behind a bob sled. Worked 2-1/2 hours on bedspread, first time since I was married. 1919. Up at 9. Laura and I took a walk. in P.M. Miss Irene Dunne came from Brookings and Laura went to hotel for her. We talked, played a game of 500, then they stayed for supper, helping get it ready, wash dishes, etc. They went to hotel for the night. Mild day. I read in some magazines Peterson's gave me. 1920. Cut out two dresses for Hilda, made all of the think white one with embroidery yoke, and started pink and white striped one. Crocheted several rounds on my rug. 1921. Letters from mamma and Sis. Out on porch a minute. Signe had to be fed three times in night. I gave her bath. Mrs. Bolt went to Guild for all day meeting from 11 to 4. I finished getting dinner here. Hans Fuglsang here for dinner, and helped Hans kill "Eb," a cow, for beef. I crocheted. Too many interruptions for nap in P.M.
