February 10 1917. Went to Forman's to spend day. Hans came on 10 a.m. 'ruben. I was at Michabo Club for supper and all night with Mildred Savage. Went to Ames-Chicago U. basketball game in gym (27-20) and to joint reception at Alumni Hall with Hans. 1918. First day of the winter that is thawed. Two men came to see us before we got up - Mr. Larson and the Bachelor! I wrote to Hans, Helen, and Edna Clark. Daisy ran away into the woods pasture off east. [Storkolm?] helped get her back. nice not to keep fire over night or fire in cellar. 1919 Laura spent more than an hour with me before her train left for Elk Point. August here to borrow our liberty bonds. I appliqued last tulip on bedspread, made last French knot on it and started sewing lace on edge. I called on Mrs. Wilson. Mrs Gallup called on me. Miss Dunne and I went to piano recital by Harold Henry at Univ. She stayed all night. 1920. Have a cough. Finished Hilda's striped dress and worked a little on my rug. Letters from Hans, Anna Wilson, and Aunt Emma. Started ironing the curtains for my house. 1921. We canned 27qt. beef and 2 of soup. I filled 12 qt. cans for first boilerfull, then Hazel helped Mrs. Bolt with it in P.M. Letters from Amanda, August + Anna, their grandmother, and Mrs. Cogswell. Sent 7# beef to my folks.
