February 17
1917. Back to home duties again - also to my "hope-box" preparations. I crocheted on my red-and-gray woolen rug, also on pink-and-blue-varigated hairpin lace. 
1917. My last Sunday in Minnesota, I hope. Letter from Miss Clark that she will not be in Chisholm, and I can't go that way to see iron mines. I wrote her and Hans. Mamma wrote of death of Charlie's baby. I went to church, baked 2 pies, made jelly, walked to lake with Constance and Cogswells. Miss Wagener called. I packed some more. 
1919. Very warm and sunny- thawing lots. August here till P.M. when he went to Sioux Falls.  Margaret came back on 11:20 A.M. train. I wrote Helena. Made unbleached muslin nightgown with blue and white yoke Sis crocheted for me two yrs ago Christmas. walked to town- mailed $112 order to M.W.&Co. Crocheted on lace. 
1920. In bed all day, the day I planned to go to Maquoketa. Mamma takes all care of Hilda. Lung does not hurt so much. Wrote Hans. He tried to telephone here in eve.  
1921. Ironed and mended a little more- don't find time for much. Made Neverfail cake before breakfast. Letter from Bertha Goldsberry.
