February 24 1917. Mamma took Mabel back to town in the afternoon. Finished my crocheted rug. 1918. George, Helen, and I went to church. Everybody called me Clara, not knowing what else to call me. Saw Mabel Helmick, Theresa Wilson, Uncle John and Aunt Minnie, and many others. Charlie, Maude, and Royal and Perry and Mrs. Stillinger here in P.M. Snow practically gone here. 1919. Baked bread crocheted 5 medallions. cut out little cross-bar dress, made and transferred design on bottom of it, and began embroidering it. Wrote to Mrs. Cogswell. August here for dinner. 1920. Finished packing my trunk + suitcase. George hauled trunk and cab to town; Leslie took us in Dodge. Papa went with me to Davenport. Hilda's great grandmother met us in Davenport. She gave Hilda stockings she knit. Hans met us in Maquoketa, but Ford ran into another car, hurt my ear; and Mr. Efferding brought us out to Skott's. 1921. Hazel helped with washing also cleaned up. Baby was awake practically all day and I got nothing done but care for her. She had some colic. Her grandpa Skott saw her for first time. She slept good at night then.
