February 27 1917. Leslie went to Iowa City and brought George home from the hospital. I worked on my rug and spread, and got the mail. Grace Gibson and I called on Mrs. Kennedy, who is up for the first, today. 1918. Hung out clothes and got chicken pie dinner while mamma washed. She and I walked to Charlie's after dinner, also stopping to see Mr. and Mrs. Ford. I crocheted on my bedspread edge. Wrote to Helena. 1919. Did the ironing and mending, baked cake and biscuit. Cloudy day, snowing and blowing in evening. Cut out and started blue and white checked gingham apron. Hans moved his office in courthouse to downstairs room which Red Cross had been using - quite an improvement. 1920. Whitney's moved to Maquoketa. I did a little sweeping there, kept the men from hauling some of our stuff away, etc. Hans hauled a load for them and I walked back. Rested, wrote to Helen. Adela came from school at Elwood. Letters from August and Ford May Millie. 1921. A beautiful day, but a very quiet Sunday. Signe slept most of day, and Hans was at his folks. I took usual afternoon nap, read, wrote to Helena.
