March 6 1917. A nice, springlike day. I worked two 1/2 hours on my spread. 1918. Mud partially frozen and roads fierce but I drove Brownie to town, taking 5 days' cream for our boys and Charlie. Took a treatment of Dr Hinchman and had him make examination- am fine physicallyl Dinner at Uncle John's, called on Miller's- Mr. in bed. Helped Helen pick her commencement dress, etc. 1919. Baked bread did mending. Did the ironing in less than an hour (no starched clothes). Snowed most of the day. Crocheted. Began on second half of embroidery on bottom of little dress. M.W.V.Co. goods came. Everything O.K.- groceries, tires, footwear, dry goods, tools, etc. 1920. Baked bread- my first with the Maquoketa flour. Washed for Hilda- Adela hung 'em out. She came about 10:00A.M. Mopped kitchen (very badly needed). Dr. McIntyre came to treat a cow, and stayed for supper. Found ice in my teakettle in morning. 1921. A quiet Sunday- except for Signe, who made enough noise. She was awake about twelve hours out of the 24- until after midnight. I read E. P. Roe's "Near to Nature's Heart."
