March 12 1917. I worked on my braided rug, and hemmed two pairs of sheets. I wrote out invitations in green verse, for a St. Patrick's party to surprise "his namesake, Pat, and Helen" 1918. Another fine day. I wrote to mamma and card to Flo, transplanted tomato plants to give them more room. Tried to find Rev. Davis to rent garden from him. Crocheted on bedspread lace and finished second helmet. Helped Hans read seed corn tests. 1919. Did the ironing in an hour and a half. Shortened Hans' new trousers by turning up a cuff on them. Made six dozen cotton pads. Took short walk, seeing my first robins this year - six of them. Hans was so busy I took his supper to office. Letter from Sis. Wrote to Flo and Amanda. 1920. Freezing again and a little snow. Washed baby flannels in the last melted snow available, saved for several days. Hans brought our last furniture over from his folks. I worked at straightening up my desk for business desk. Adela came out from Elwood after school. 1921. Rose Ehlers helped me five hours, at 15 cents, cleaning and ironing. Signe had bad colic from 3 till late. She didn't sleep till midnight.
