March 21 1917. Ironed some, crocheted some, cleaned George's room, which was the spare room (S.W. room), to be ready for some of his furniture he is moving over from his own place. 1918. Canned 4 pts. pork from Sambo's shoulder. Ripped up two old blue hats to make one new one. Got frame remodeled, and auto cap made of flowered blue silk crown of one of them. 1919. Fine sunny day. Hans went to Alcester on 4:00 A.M. train to get "Lizzie." I made the third khaki shirt for him. Margaret went home with her brother Harold in their car- roads good again. She will not be back after vacation, with us, as we won't have room. I walked to P.O. Letter from Amanda. Wrote Flo. 1920. A fine Sunday. Hans went to Maquoketa in P.M. to get James Hofacre to work for us. My first callers came in P.M. - Mrs. Lafe Scott, her daughters Grace and Sarah and Mrs. John Scott. Oscar and Velma here for dinner. Wrote to mamma. 1921. Hans and Alfred began sowing oats. Cooler than for last couple days. Adela stayed up with Signe in evening.
