March 22 1917. Made a row on my braided rug, crocheted on tablecloth edge. 1918. Washed some of the windows on outside. Hans got his first gov't. check, $262.50 for first 6 wks. work. I went and bought new electric iron, and curtains for front bedroom. Sewed braid on my hat brim. 1919. Hans got home about 1:00 A.M. Nice to have "just we two" here again. I baked pies, mopped kitchen and front bedroom. Crocheted. Read "Martha-by-the-Day." Took a nap. 1920. Baked bread and pumpkin pies, mopped kitchen; tried to prune grape vines, set my first hen. Adela begins staying at Olga's as they furnish her a horse to ride. Jim began plowing in P.M. 1921. Washed flannels. Signe sure keeps me busy. She can laugh- has some time ago.
