March 25 1917. First time I was at S.S. this year- and review Sunday at that. Herman left for Chicago at 9:10P.M. George was in Iowa City in P.M. and brought back with him Ferdinand May to work. 1918. Orchard spraying demonstrations begin, at J.C. Denison's. Halderson took out power outfit. I drove us out. In P.M. Mrs. Denison and I came back to town for films. I drove about 25 miles all told today. I can't crank Lizzie. Good country dinner and supper at Denison's. She gave us buttermilk. 1919. Rainy most of day, turning to snow a while in late P.M. Did ironing in two hours or so, at intervals thru day. Too dark to finish mending hose. Baked bread and hickory nut cake. Letter from mamma with Helen's recital program. Letter, photo, sieve, and baby spoon from Flo. "Chesty" and we printed pictures in evening. 1920. More rain. Hans and Jim butchered a hog at Hans' folks for us. I washed Hilda's woolen in nice fresh soft water, mopped kitchen, wrote to Julia Brekke and Sis, made out order to Philipsborn's. Made chocolate cake. 1921. Got my new hat from Philipsborn's, plain sand straw with brown ribbon. Adela went to Olga's for over Sunday, leaving me without help.
