March 30 1917. Swept upstairs, sewed a lot of woolen rug-rags, made and apron. Fine warm day, up to 72°. 1918. Washed some windows, floors, etc., blacked stove. Hans not home for dinner. Anna came on afternoon train. Masons finished cellar floor. Anna and I went down town a while. Hans made garden plans in detail in evening. Anna gave us silver bud vase. 1919. Time shoved an hour ahead "to save daylight" this summer again. I baked a rhubarb pie, read book of short stories by Edna Ferber "Buttered Side Down." Wrote to Mother Skott. Helena, mamma, and card to Millie. Hans started to Freeman, Turner Co., on eve train. 1920. Canned 7 1/2 qts. of ribs, sidemeat and liverwurst, ironed more than 2 hrs, mended a little. Set 2 hens on eggs I got from mamma. Adela is going to school from here again this week. 1921. Dressed a chicken and sent it to the folks in Davenport, made two glasses grape jelly. Wrote to mamma. Sent in original song for Wallaces' Farmer $50 contest. Helene went back to Olga's in evening. Signe wouldn't take bottle till Adela came at midnight.
