1917-1921 - 04-01

April 1
1917. A raw day with some snow falling. Papa and I went to church. Read and wrote letters.
1918. A fine day. Anna and I worked on front porch at work bench and made two flats the size of egg-case fillers for plants. After early lunch, we all drove to Wakonda and on northeast, making 12 Country calls. Went 75 miles or so. Wrote to Sis, who is in Keokuk hospital for appendicitis.
1919. Cloudy. I finished first half of sheet. Started crocheting like it for pillowcase, also began little wool crocheted jacket. Hans came home on 4:00A.M. train. Read in "The Eyes of the World" by Harold Bell Wright.
1920. Rainy forenoon + evening. So warm in P.M. we sat on porch. Alvina Weidemann here in P.M. Adela has 2 day vacation. We began raking yard. I fired down more sausage, and more soap fat. Baked bread and cake. Hans home late from town.
1921. Windy bright weather continues. Hazel helped me, baked doughnuts, washed for baby, etc. I made two batches of soap, boiled the silver. I managed to feed Signe her bottle, after a little difficulty. In bed at 9:30 for once.
