April 2 1917. Did the washing, crocheted on my table cloth, and sewed rags for my blue-and-white cotton rug, finishing the rag-sewing. 1918. Anna and I planted tomato, cabbage, and cauliflower plants in our flat boxes. Heard Miss Robinson, H.E., head of S.D Univ. here, talk on food Conservation at Mass meeting for women in Congregational Church. Day rather raw. J. Fred Thomas come from Iowa and stayed all night. 1919. Amanda came on noon train, when we did not expect her till evening. We planted onions. Sun shone out hot a while. 1920. We put our new linoleum in dining room. I ironed 3 curtains, mended; baked pumpkin pies. Hazel Warren and Lizzie Ehlers here in P.M. Raw windy day with flurries of snow. 1920. Very warm. 70° at 4P.M. Signe fussed along most of day, and I had hard work to get 2 meals dishes washed (left supper ones undone). Glen and Oskar cleaned my chicken house and I set more hens. Glow had tail-less calf.
