April 7 1917. Hans went on the 5:20 A.M. to Columbus get and returned in the afternoon. Snowed hard most of the day. Mamma has pink-eye in both eyes. Leslie helped unload Grange salt. Boy sold hog for 15.10 1918. We went to church in a.m. - heard Rev. Wilder of Wakonda. After dinner, we drove to Elk Point, from where Anna took train back to Doon. We stopped a couple places coming back. Very windy. Wrote to Hans' folks. Visited greenhouse at dusk. 1919. [Letters from mamma, Helena, Hazel Scott and Bertha Goldsberry. Mrs Theodore] Mrs. Meleen gives me hot oil massages to relieve swollen breasts. She is a fine nurse. 1920. Had a bad spell with my back for a while. Finished my part of the ironing, did a lot of mending. Wrote in Hillside circle letter. 1921. Just haven't time to write in this book each day. Signe kept awake till 10:30.
