April 8
1917. A bright Easter. Snow nearly all melted. Hans and I worked on his photo book, figured up our "Preparedness" list, etc. I took him up to the 3:50 P.M. train. Roads sticky. 
1918. My washing froze on line till 11:00 A.M. Planted bean and other seeds in flat. Called on Mrs. Tjaden who has a bad case of grippe. After early supper, we went to Pleasant Valley Twp. where we talked to 50 people in twp. hall. Stayed all night at Peter Hesla's.
1919. Letters from mamma, Helena, Hazel Scott, and Bertha Goldsberry. Mrs. Theodore Jasperson and Orville here in P.M. I sat up an hour in rocker. Grass has got nice and green. Peas up.
1920. Canned another ham - 7 qts. Mrs. Hans Fuglsanq and little Lilian and her helper Euphemia were here in P.M. For a wonder we were cleaned up, with fresh dresses on. I got mail. Letter from Hazel G. 
1921. Signe got set of pins from Cousin Emma, and a note from Helene. Signe was bothersome all day. I couldn't even comb my hair or sweep a floor. Adela stayed and helped in eve, or we never could have has supper. Signe didn't sleep till 11 again.
