April 11 1917. George has pink-eye now. I baked pie, etc. Made comfort-protector of tan poplin with knot-stitch in blue for my new comfort. 1918. Getting into bed at home after midnight, we got up after 9. Had to start in and cook a little, and clean up. Letter from Sis, who is gaining O.K. in hospital. We had early supper, then to Denison's, Lomberg's, etc. 45 at Center Point School in Prairie Center Twp. for our meeting. 1919. Snow mostly melted. Letters from Cogswells', Georgia, Florence, and Constance. Up again in chair, but took big sleep in P.M. Mrs. Stewart and Helen called, also Helen and Freeman Chaussee, Mrs. Meleen and Amanda played 500 in eve against Hans and me, game apiece. Hilda sleeps all day. 1920. Went for wild flowers up "Lover's Lane" to Maquoketa River in P.M. Got anemones. Come home via Nashville. Bad places yet on many hills, and Ferd, Gim, Adela, and Hazel Warren had to walk up. Hans and I called at Lofe Scott's in evening. 1921. Signe awake from midnight for more than an hour and a half. I had an awful time giving her her bottle in P.M. too. Adela will stay evenings this week. I baked cream pies and a neverfail cake.
