April 14 1917. Scrubbed, baked cake, pies, and nut bread. Helen and I finished raking north east yard. Worked on my spread. George brought home his new Ford. 1918. Heard Rev. Wilcox at Methodist church in A.M. on "What We Can Afford to Give to Help Win the War". After dinner we took Mrs. Tjaden, Lowell, and Eleanor for a Ford ride- but nearly got lost in the Missouri bottoms. Planted radishes, lettuce, onion sets, carrot + beets in garden. 1919. Hilda keeps to her schedule nicely. Mr Scarbs and Mr. Keith, the new Garden club leader for Vermillion, here in forenoon. Mrs Rees here in P.M. Hilda got bonnet from Martha Forman. She was cross and appeared not well in evening and didn't sleep well at night. Napped in P.M. + eve. 1920. Did most of the ironing, helped Hans treat some seed oats, took off my hen with 11 chicks (Rhode Island Reds). Mr. Whitney here for dinner and for his auto. First time he had been here. Baked pumpkin pies. Card from Constance she will start Monday. Adela back to school today. 1921. Another day I didn't get hair combed. Signe simply would not take her bottle.
