April 15 1917. A raw, rainy day, but not as much water fell as everything needs. Mamma and I put in her brown - and blue calico quilt, and quilted nearly half of it. Also appliqued another tulip on my spread. (Should be Apr. 16) 1918. Real rain at last. Wrote to mamma in A.M. About 2:00 P.M. Hans and I drove thru mud to Bethel to township and to Volin. Supper at John Johnson's. It rained again just after we got fire started in Bethel Hall. Nobody came, and we drove thru rain to Wakonda to stay. 1919. Some snow again, which melted. I took a couple naps in P.M. Walked about a little. Used a needle again - to sew on my slipper buttons and mend Hans' raincoat and finish mending Ford curtains. Letter from Anna W. and circle letter. Sent Easter cards home, to Sis, Mabel C. , and "Mac", + birthday card to Anna. 1920. Busy from 5:20 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. except for a half hour nap. Mopped both linoleums, baked cake, finished ironing, mended a little, but it got too dark in P.M. Rained lively shower. Adela stayed in Elwood over night. Wrote to Mrs Peter Miller. 1921. Signe awake from 2:30 till 5:00, then I had to sleep till nearly 7, while Adela got breakfast. I got dishes done at 8:30, earliest yes. Rainy evening. Signe wouldn't even drink from new nipples for me, that Hans got in town.
