April 18 1917. We finished mamma's quilt. I fried down five rolls of sausage, and worked two hours on my spread. Mamma started to take our rags to a weaver, but she couldn't as trains do not stop at Moscow. 1918. Glad our series of meetings is over. Baked rhubarb pie and barley biscuits. Letter from Sis, home from hospital. She sent me some sewing to do for her. Did some left-over mending. Wrote to Mrs. Cogswell and to card to Anna. 1919. Hilda slept fine again, and we got up in better time. Amanda cleaned double rooms and I got dinner and did the dishes. Feel quite smart. Took nap, wrote circle letter and to Hazel S. Letter from Hilda's great grandmother and Aunt Minnie, with pictures of Verna and Gene. Mrs. Tjaden called. I put in potatoes, parsnips, Pak Choi + kohlrabi south of house with Hans. 1920. Started at 10:30 for church in Elwood, but raindrops increased, and we kept on our way to Orville Ruggeberg's. Got stuck in mud on big hill, then connections in Ford broke. Got there at 12:50. Olga had fine dinner. Harry R's there, too. Came home by 4:20. 1921. I cleaned out kitchen chimney and baked big batch of graham bread. Tried for more than 2 hrs. to feed Signe her bottle + gave up in despair. So she was awake several times in night. Letter + emb. dress for Signe from Mamma. She had planned to visit me last week.
