April 22 1917. Went to church at Harrisburg with Rex's. After dinner, John, the boys, Sis, and I walked to his pile of 700 big logs, picked anemones, violets (blue + dog-tooth), and Dutchman's breehces. Found a big turtle, visited with Campbell girls in woods, old coal mine, etc. 1918. Shrunk 5 yds. blue gingham, cut out two dresses form it for Beatrice, also sunbonnet. Got it and one dress nearly done, trimmed with "chicken" design braid. Hans and I planted salsify, parsnips, sugar beets, and onions in our garden at Prof. Lyons'. 1919. Slept late again. Amanda had difficulty with clothesline for her washing. I got card from Mrs. Keck. Planted more early peas and mustard. Called on Mrs. Dunlap, and bought Mary's cab for Hilda. Linnette and Mary came to see Hilda. Mr. Keith here with Amanda after "movies" 1920. Lost a few hours' sleep in night- just sleepless- and had to make some of it up in P.M. Constance did large ironing. I worked with chickens, baked sour cream pie. Letter from Amanda. We played 500 in evening for an hour. 1921. Minnie and I did a huge washing, tho it wasn't very good day for it. Mama did a lot of mending for me and papa fixed back step. Adela went home after school. Peaches are loaded with bloom- pink and pretty.
