May 2 1917. I washed. Embroidered an "S" in my new pair of pillowcases. 1918. Up to 90°. I washed one south window, then Mrs. Tjaden, Mrs. Miller ("Chesty's" wife) and I had a "confab" in our back yard an hour. Letter from Constance. Called on Mrs. Bryant and on Mrs. P.W. Peterson. Found the latter sick - and I stayed for supper! 1919. Cloudy and rainy. Haus and I planted Golden Wax beans before breakfast, and onion sets in evening. I helped Amanda sew a little, napped, read in "Their Yesterdays" by Harold Bell Wright. Letter from mamma + papa , with $10, which we started a bank acc't for Hilda with. Getting cold + sore throat. 1920. Bright sunny Sunday, tho wind is chilly. Wrote to Bert Goldsberry. In P.M. Lizzie, Rosie +Delia Ehlers came, and they went with us to John Scott's. Sara + Grace and their mother there too. Ferd begins working for Scott Hill's. 1921. 5 hens hatch 68 chicks - 2 of them 100% hatches. I did some mending. Letter from mamma. Wrote to her, and ordered a pattern + 2 settings eggs.
