May 6 1917. Hans came from 5:20 train in time for breakfast. We could find only crowfoot and 3 violets in N. timber. We decide, after much discussion, to be married the 19th, and go immediately to Bagley. We sat up late - having put in a full day together. 1918. Busy from 6:30 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. We planted 7 more long rows sweet corn, 2 rows Early Ohio potatoes, 3 rows pop corn, 1 of lima beans, also pie pumpkin, citron, peanuts, cabbage. Helped Hans read 1500 ears of corn in testing station. Helped him give our Ford its first bath. We set out yellow and red tomato plants in evening. Letter from Sis. 1919. Very windy. Rained in morning. Hilda only slept 10 hrs. out of the 24 ending at 9:30 A.M. today. Took her to see Dr. in P.M. and got Horlick's Malted Milk + Borden's Condensed Milk to try. Dr. Borst put on gold crown for me- $12.50. Wrote to Hazel Grimes. 1920. Wrote to mamma. Warm. Hans began planting corn. I shelled Golden Bantam seed most of forenoon, baked jam cake; in P.M. drove Caspar and Bobby to wagon to creamery for buttermilk (7 cans), got disc at the folks, and 4 bu. seed corn at Otto Weideman's. Whitney's here little while. 1921. Finished Hilda's bloomers and started gray bonnet for her. Minnie cleaned sewing room.
