May 10 1917. I packed my big box of bedding, with a few dishes and pictures. We had George take mamma and me to Pack Gibson's, "since it would be my last chance to go to club" - then it wasn't club day after all! But we had a good visit with Mrs. Gibson. Kept joke secret. 1918. Did my 2 wks.' ironing in 2 hrs. as usual. Mended, crocheted on pillowcase. Gladys and Winfield did not go home till supper time, when Mr. D. came for them. All here for supper. Then Hans and I transplanted peanuts and citron to far garden and mammoth corn, Brussels sprouts, + cabbage here. Also sowed asparagus seed. 1919. Hilda took another good sleep outdoors. I mopped kitchen, washed 30 diapers, etc. napped. Set out cauliflower plants. Letter from Constance, in Canada with her brothers. Got some beauties of red tulips from courthouse, when we went down a few minutes with Hans. 1920. Busy from 5 A.M. to 8 P.M. Our Jonah day- I spilled about 4 gal cream when I had it nearly to creamery; a gosling and a piggie died; pigs got out and drank up chicken buttermilk + water, etc. Constance and I put in all our spare time shelling and grading seed corn. 1921. We had large washing and Signe was cross, but we got thru before noon. Looked showery, but got clothes all dry. Pained at night.
