May 12 1917. Slow job, lying on my back practically all day, especially with mamma's back hurting her, and Helen with a severe cold. I sleep down stairs, eat from a tray, and have to be helped to lie down or get up- making a general nuisance of myself. 1918. Home all day except that we and Peter Miller and wife went along Vermillion River and cut and brought home bean poles. Wrote to Anna, and Constance. 1919. Hilda slept a good deal during day. I baked bread, cut out my salmon waist and basted it up, crocheted nearly two medallions. Shrunk 6yd gingham. 1920. Rained most of day. 6 chickens drowned. Mended most of P.M. and sewed tatting on Hilda's dress, Adela and Constance ironed and finished corn shelling. Ferd here few minutes. 1921. Baked bread. I slept till nearly 7! and was late fro breakfast, but I feel as if I'm beginning to catch up on sleep now. We cut some late potatoes for planting. I did a 3 washerfuls of woolens + colored stuff.
