May 13 1917. A nice day. Pear, plum, and Duchess apples in bloom at last. Helen brought in violets from North timber. I lay around the lounge all day. My side is quite sore. 1918. Finished crocheting hairpin lace pillowcase. Made blue and white striped voile collar, cuffs, belt + pockets on white poplin dress, using bottom of other skirt like it for long "tail" of waist. Letter from mamma. Transplanted wonderberry and pepper and cauliflower. 1919. Hilda slept most of the time I did the washing. Took nap. Amanda here in P.M. a little while. Sewed and crocheted just a little. Hilda did not sleep till nearly midnight. Hans out till 1:00 at Garfield Hall with Dr. Weaver (who stopped to see Hilda). 1920. This morning my unlucky stunt for the day was to forget bread sponge till it baked in the oven. Swept our bedroom, cleaned out corn from corn room; took corn planter to field for Hans; set out a row of strawberry plants (35); Mrs. Lafe Scott and Grace here in P.M. 1921. Friday the 13th. Cold and windy, quite a change. Got out old lavender + white unfinished blouse + put white sleeves in it.
