May 18 1917. Feel a little more like getting around. Folks put up lawn swing, where I begin to spend much time. Hans was here from four to nine P.M. having finished his school year at Granger, and on his way to Bagley. 1918. Canned 2 1/2 qts of rhubarb conserve (with nuts, raisins, oranges, and lemon). Baked wheatless bread and muffins. Wrote to Mary + Martha. Planted more radishes and peas. Made a "new" nightgown from an old one and a petticoat ruffle. Biggest hail storm I ever saw in evening. Hurt garden some. 1919. Amanda came over in P.M. and we drove out to see August. It started to rain and we came right back, in heavy rain and a little hail. Got stuck till Hans put chains on . Card from Florence. Wrote to her. 1920. Sunny wash day for once, and had even larger washing than usual. Carried drink to Hans and Jim, baked cream cake, and did milking, etc. as usual on busy days. Letter from Aunt Minnie. Rained in evening. 1921. Signe slept from 9 to 3:40, best yet. She is getting her hours more regular now. In P.M. I drove Ford to Leonard's for Guild, my first since Oct. Minnie, Hilda, Signe, and Mrs. Lafe "went with". Nice refreshments. Signe and the other Guild baby, Billy Danielson, the center of attraction.
