May 25 1917. Feel stronger as to ribs. I got my bedspread out again to work on, also began crocheting edge for the second side. I made a blue gingham kitchen apron. 1918. Baked bran cookies, cleaned and pressed two suits for Hans, crocheted 3 daisies and began on edge of yoke. We worked about 3 hrs in big garden, replanting corn and salsify, and cultivating. 1919. We arrived at Hans' uncle Julius Ehlers at 2:00 A.M. and found them reading in bed. Surprised them. Left there at 11:00 A.M. stopped at Arlington church to visit other cousins. Picnicked by Maquoketa river on roadside. Helena's traveling bag lost off Ford. We got to their folks after six. I got 6 hrs. sleep in 60. 1920. Put out 3 goslings, making 8 I have. I did big washing, fixed up and hung hall curtain, sewed an "H" medallion, Constance crocheted in one of Hilda's sheets, set out 30 strawberry plants, Hans and I at his folks + Fuglsang's in eve. Had onions to eat from garden. 1921. Wrote Helena. Signe slept from 8 to 3:30, best yet. Finally finished blue percale. Helped Minnie iron, baked oatmeal cookies, took drink to field to men who are grubbing blackberries, and planted cucumber, watermelon, + muskmelon.
