JUNE 6 1917. Slept sound in the Pullman; woke in Minnesota - and it was raining! We bought us heavy sweaters in St. Paul - and tried to trade off my camera. Brief visit to Capitol. In Minneapolis we bought chiffonier, dining chairs and serving rocker, also rug. Constant rain. We killed time at the movies. Sleeper at 10:59 on Great Northern. 1918. First fine day in long time and I feel fine, too, again. Up at 6, got 2 wks' washing done before 11. Cleaned up forcing boxes to put away. Crocheted a little. Got Quill spoon - more than a year after we were married! Card from mamma shopping in Davenport. Chinese mustard to eat. P.W. Petersons' + Edna came to see our gardens. We worked three hours cleaning out weeds from our big garden. 1919. Hard rain again. Did some washing. Hans and his father went to Whitney's. Mrs. Walker come over to see baby. 1920. Hans, Hilda, and I left at 4:00 A.M. in our Ford. and got to Elmenhurst by 7:40. Had to change a tire in Last Nation. Folks had just finished breakfast. We had strawberries for dinner. We went to Chautauqua in P.M. Broke a hub. Mary Melick here for supper. Hilda tired. 1921. Baked cream cake, made a lot of cottage cheese - we made up 13 gallons! Wrote to Mrs Murphy, + card to mamma.
