JUNE 12 1917. About ten Hans and I walked to Bagley. We worked in our school farm garden. hoeing, replanting parsnips. We heard three speeches in Farmers' Picnic program - Prof. Fay and a Non-Partizan League man from Thief River Falls, and a Crookston lawyer on Patriotism so called. Walked home most of the way. 1918. Ironed and got picnic dinner ready. We three ate it in roadside shade in Pleasant Valley twp. We made arrangements for July canning demonstrations at Peter Hesla's, Wakonda, Garfield Hall, and Burbank. I drove from Dahlberg's to Burbank. Got sunburned. 1919. We had to repair exhaust pipe Amanda stretched. so was till 3:00 getting my washing all done. Mrs. Gallup here few minutes - Hot. Scrubbed kitchen. 1920. Mopped both linoleums, washed some woolens, canned 4 qt. strawberries, finished my underskirt and some of the mending. Visited evening with Hans' grandmother and his folks till Jim and Constance got back from town. 1921. A hot Sunday. Hans put new hinges on my desk. We went to his folks a few minutes. Olga and Orville, Adela, and Pearl Tubbs here to see milk machine. We hustled the chores, with no help, then went to Godard Church for evening service, then to Theo. Miller's. Miss Hunter stayed all night here
