June 30 1917. With an unexpected half day off, Hans and I went to town after dinner, riding a little ways with Ole. We ordered 100# sugar at 9.25. Had my new range, an "Imperial", also iron beds, dishes, dining table, etc. mailed to house, and we unpacked. Hazel Scott sent me vase. Ate our first meal, a lunch, in our new home. Came out in school car, bringing Han's gasoline iron, a few more utensils, etc. 1918. Rather cool. Had a fine visit at "Bub's". They have fine new home. Mabel Christianson, Ada Syvend's sisters, Ellen and "Babe" Lukken, and others were there, too. Harry Gregg and wife, "Bill" Gregg and Laura Dawson of Hawarden, Ia., there in P.M. We left there at 8:45. Leo Heck came with us. Lights failed again the last 25 mi. We nearly ran into a buggy. We got home in 3 hrs. Roads much better. 1919. Canned 4 pt. peas. Finished up a lot of left-over mending. Cut out dress for Hilda of my old striped blue and white crepe waist. 1920. Got letter from mamma they expect to drive up Sunday. Olga and Orville, great grandma, and Helena (home from her school and a visit in Dakota) here few minutes in evening. 1921. Oats harvest begins. Alfred's folks here a while. An exceedingly hot day, especially for ironing, which took till 4 P.M. as Minnie had to wash milk machine in morning. Our work schedule for this week upset. I picked and canned 3 qt. snap beans in late P.M. We drove to Bork's in eve.
