JULY 6 1917. Baked a big batch of bread and washed. First time I've washed here it did not rain. Crocheted on doily for Partha. Spent an hour in our "forty acre strawberry patch" - the timber-picking enough berries for supper. Helped transplant cucumbers. 1918. Gave house a cleaning-up. Baked oatmeal cookies and mince pie and steamed bread and vegetables in steamer. Did my week's ironing in less than 1 3/4 hours. Pressed and cleaned Hans' best suit. Hans was caught out in rain at noon, and got wet, and Ford muddy. Letter from Hazel Scott Amanda went out to Nils Benson's to work. 1919. Hilda had some real colic, but was OK by mid-afternoon. Mrs. Miller here awhile. I baked gooseberry pie for dinner, also had first N.Z spinach. Hans planted Golden Wax and G. Bantam corn. Wrote to Hazel Scott. Laura Jones and Marjorie Sims here in P.M. and again in eve. 1920. Cleaned silver, straightened up house; too muddy to get outside. Baked cake. Cut out blue gingham peasant dress for Hilda and sewed on it. 1921. Ironing. Lots of it as usual. I sewed on Hilda's dress.
