JULY 10 1917. Washed - and it rained all afternoon, and more showers. Had my first agent. Bought mentholated salve. Run my iron an hour or more. Helped Hans make a "popple" gate in the evening - and fought mosquitos. 1918. After a struggle with keys, Miss Dodge and I got in High School where she talked to us canning kitchen supervisors! Mrs. Akely supervised girls canning beans in P.M. I canned 1 qt of peas there. Did my ironing. Hans and I worked in garden till dark. 1919. Letter from Helena. Canned a qt of gooseberry-fig conserve. Mrs. Keck, instructor in canning at the camp, called in A.M. We were guests at East Hall for dinner, with "the bunch." Went to assembly with them at 1:20, but came home with Hilda in an hr, Bryant's called in eve. Did my ironing. 1920. Canned 1 qt beans. Had first kohlrabi for dinner. Helena here only in morning and evening. Rev Snider and little George and Mr. Whitney here for dinner. Miss Hunter and I drove to church and swept and dusted it. Tired. 1921. We made our second cream cheese, took Minnie to her sister's for the day. Hans' folks and Hans picked blackberries in P.M. while girlies and I stayed by the car in the woods. Lorna and Leone Ford and Minnie went with us to church in eve. Signe was baptized, and our church leaders read
