JULY 11 1917. Rode to town with Ole in the wagon, to attend to garden duties. Hoed town bean patch, tomatoes, etc. Had dray haul up kitchen cabinet, Han's old desk, M.20. groceries, another rug like my first one, and S.R11 "notions". Hans and I unpacked in evening and visited school farm. 1918. We had our first tomato to eat. We put in a row of Golden Bantam corn. I worked in garden, baked nut-mince muffins. Went to Greenfield, where we canned about 10 qts. of beans, beef, chicken, carrots, beets and Swiss chard for them. We all stayed there for supper at H. J. Hanson's. Miss Dodge tells me she is quitting. 1919. Canned 3 qts. beans, baked gooseberry pie, finished Hilda's blue and white crepe dress. We went to the stunt night of the club camp. Among the "take-offs" was one on Hans and baby. Miss Dunne was here a little while. 1920. Sunday school started at Godard M.E. church with Miss Lottie Hunter super-intending. Constance and Hazel went with us, Jim driving the folk's old Ford, finally repaired. Hans gone all day to Andrew with his folks. Wrote to Anne, mamma and cousin Emma. 1921. Dressed first fry before breakfast, while Minnie picked blackberries again. Canned 7 qt. Mended some. 100 in shade. Sent note to Amanda. We made another cheese. Clara and Lily Ehlers of Oelwein and Adela, here in P.M.
