JULY 14 1917. Finished school garden by 9:00 A.M., weeding out kohlrabi & parsnip rows, etc. Baked bread and oatmeal cookies. The new range works fine. Hans: "Best bread I ever ate"; also "Make some more pancakes". Hilled up seven short potato rows, and half of big patch. We worked at it till dark. 1918. Up late as a nice rain was falling. We shelled last of our rejected seed corn to sell on market. Got circle letter. 1919. Canned 4 1/2 qt. rhubarb-fig conserve. Pressed Han's trousers, finally, dirty from Ia. trip. Mr. and Mrs. Keck stopped on way home from Sioux City to show us their newly-adopted Elizabeth Jean. We had them stay for supper and all night. Had first cabbage. 1920. We finished ironing in forenoon, I washed my hair. 1921. Signe vomited, etc. but seemed to feel quite good. Hans ate too many green apples and was sick in eve. Hilda not quite well yet. We did big ironing and I did some mending, Minnie canned 5 qt. blackberries.
