JULY 15 1917. We were up at five, intending to go out early, but a fine shower prevented. Set up hall tree. Harvested a 1/2 bu. lettuce and 45 radishes. Got Day's to take us and our junk in school car out to country. Hans and I picked nearly a gallon of wild strawberries and dewberries. 1918. Canned 2 qt. each of beets and carrot pickles, 3 of beans, 1 each of peas, kohlrabi, and onion pickles. Baked barley biscuit and wheatless bread. Hans came home very late for supper. 1919. Helped Hans with Farm Bureau accounts. Hilda was fussy from being disturbed in her morning nap again by Stewart's visitors. I got little done. Crocheted two medallions and wrote to Helen while rocking her. Hans stayed in country all night. 1920. Worked in garden till 9:30, clearing out peas, etc. Helped Constance scour our inlaid linoleum and I varnished it. Adela and I did milking alone in evening. I milked 4 cows each time today. 1921. Both girlies require considerable attention. I did washing for them. Sent card to mamma. Started everyday dress for Signe from old white voile of mine. Had first roasting ears.
