July 18 1917. Finished thinning the cow-beets. Did a 58 piece washing. Took Hans' lunch to woods. Picked another half gallon berries- a wonderful time killer. In evening we run a hand plow in garden. I also thinned 3 rows rutabagas. 1918. Took nearly 3 hrs. to do my ironing. Had applesauce form Prof Rees' trees. After dinner I went out to Pifer's with Hans. They are sick, so I picked a big pan of her beans and got some Junior Red Cross girls to help me can ten quarts of them in canning kitchen. Got word mamma and papa are coming. 1919. Dyed dark blue my old light tissue gingham dress I had spilled ink on, also tie for Hans. Wrote in Quill circle letter I had kept for long time. Hilda and I downtown in P.M. She weighed 11 1/4#, at 15 weeks. 1920. Dressed a chicken for dinner. Drove to Sunday-school at Godard, taking Constance Hazel, Adela, Velma, and Oscar. 16 there. I taught Bible class. Whitneys', Mr., Mrs., + Ethel, here for dinner. Lottie Hunter here in P.M. Hans' mother + grandmother here in evening. 1921. We threshed till noon when we got first rain for a long time. Miss Hunter helped, Adela also. I baked 5 blackberry pies, buns, picked roasting ears, etc. Finished Signe's dress in P.M.
