MEMORANDA 1917. July was exceedingly hot and dry, yet the soil in low places holds moisture so that our garden manages to do fairly well. 1918. Some very hot weather in July, but enough rains along, and a cooler spell the latter part. Harvesting done, and threshing begun in Clay Co. Crops all look splendid. 1919. Much hot dry weather, and a few rains. Wheat crop not good. Hilda is used to going to sleep by 11 every evening and sleeping till 6 or 7 A.M. and usually a sleep in forenoon. 1920. Considerable Minnesota-like nights, yet corn doing well. Latter part of July dry. Hilda sleeps from 8:00 P.M. to 6 or 7 A.M. and a long sleep in P.M. or two naps everyday. She stands alone, and has begun to take a few steps alone. 1921. An extremely hot month. Baby stood it well in spite of being fat. She always insists on one or two night feeds. Sits erect, but not to leave alone. Threshing all done in this community, except one job.
