AUGUST 12 1917. Wrote to Martha and Mrs. L.W. Forman and George. Hans and I picked pine needles just beyond the lake. Read. Walked to school garden in evening. I ate no supper. A very quiet Sunday. 1918. We got another Ford load of sweet corn. I canned 9 qts. and 3 of tomatoes, in basement. Workmen finally came and put new chimneyhole in kitchen and moved back my range. I had to clean kitchen. Went with Hans to Ufford's to community meeting in evening. Rained. 1919. Canned 4 pt. spinach. Hans brought Elon Eklund here for supper, then they worked on barn plans till late. I stamped sleeves for Hilda's embroidered flax on dress I started last winter. 1920. Big rain in night postponed our timothy threshing. We were tired. I sewed most of day. Put new sleeves in one of Hilda's dresses, cut out green and plaid gingham dress for myself and sewed on it. 1921. Canned 6 qt. green grape juice for jelly, and made 4 glasses jelly. Went to Guild at Alf. Ruggeberg's. With Miss Hunter, Mrs. Lafe Scott and her daughter, Pearl Sanders of Canton. Quite a load. Both babies clung to me all P.M.
